My plan here is to do this job for under $2000. I know that's probably gonna draw some laughs from the peanut gallery, but that's the goal. I guess in a way I'm out to prove you don't have to spend $20,000 or more to have a custom bike.

One of the biggest expenses I'm going to have to be careful of is shop labor. It's currently running in the neighborhood of $80.00 per hour... and that can kill a budget real fast. I'm going to have to do as much of the work myself as possible. There's lots of things I've never done to a bike, so it's going to be a learning experience for me.

After much consideration and due diligence, I decided I want a POW/MIA theme. The only issue I came up with was the color. Since most POW/MIA themed items I've seen are white on black, and I'm not big on black, I was gonna have to come up with something different. Maybe black on red? Nah... don't really like red either. White bikes look nice. But white isn't, in my opinion, a good color for this type of theme. Thought about this for a very long time. Then it hit me and I had my color (not revealing it yet, though).

To paint it myself or have it done professionally... hmmm. Professional would probably look somewhat better, but then I can't claim I did the bike myself. Also, since my budget for this project is pretty tight, I better do it ownself. Rattlecans... here we come.
